Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta 2017, Day 1 - Yana's Jewellery

Welcome back my fellow readers,

On Monday the second item on the calendar of Malta fashion week was Yana's Jewellery - Mystical Branches. This was Yana's first time launching a collection in fashion week but it wasn't her first work with jewellery. The collection is beautiful! The necklaces especially left me speechless. The collection was inspired by the Tree of Life of Gustav Klimt. The chunky colourful necklaces are made with rope, wire and different coloured jewels. They were beautifully hung in a frame on a tree like structure.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta 2017, Day 1 - Sarah Caruana Dingli

Hello my fellow Readers,

Last Monday was the launch of Sarah Caruana Dingli's - Pas De Deus collection at Malta fashion week.
The show started with a ballerina dancing in the middle of the presentation area and after, models came out with 12 different outfits.
Her collection was inspired by the two-sided characteristics of ballerinas and also her own personal passion. The collection consisted of  black, grey, silver and baby pink colours.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta 2017 Day 1 - Rosemarie Abela

Hello my fellow readers,
Monday was the beginning of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta and the first show was held by Rosemarie Abela, La Cupola.
Rosemarie Abela- This collection was inspired by the Mosta Dome, the Neo-Classical period and the Maltese skyline with a twist of street style. The Fashion Icon Iris Apfel was an inspiration for the silhouettes in the collection. Black, white and gold colours were seen in the collection.
One particular dress that caught my eyes the most was this lovely white and gold two piece that had the domes hand painted on it at the bottom. I also liked the black and white jumpsuits.

A big well done goes to Rosemarie for the amazing collection.

A special thanks to JCiappara Photography for the photos - https://www.facebook.com/jciapparaphotography/ and http://www.jciappara.com/

Staying at the Hilton and Outfits

Hello my fellow readers,
Welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to share my experience with you and show you my outfits while having a weekend break at the Hilton Hotel Malta. P.S This blog post and my stay at the hotel was not sponsored by any means.

A few weeks ago I had the chance to stay for a weekend at the Hilton Hotel Malta for the first time since it has been refurbished last year. I have to say, I really liked how the hotel was before its refurbishment, but when I saw the new result I was left speechless. I love it!

I am going to show you the outfits that I wore during my stay.

The first one is this casual smart outfit that I wore on Saturday morning. I have no shame to say that I buy from the market and I actually wore this camel coloured polo neck for this outfit from there. It is made out of very soft fabric and it was also affordable. As for the pants I wore my New Look black jeans. To top it all I wore a pair of black ankle boots which I also bought from the market. And for the chilly weather I chose this lovely black jacket from BHS. From the outside it is made of imitation suede and with faux fur from the inside. It keeps me very warm. The colourful sequenced handbag is from New Look. I went for a dark lipstick and used one of my favourites from 3INA in 111. And lastly, the sunglasses are from Aldo.

The second outfit which I wore for dinner on the same day is a cute polka dot top from H&M and a faux leather skirt from George. For the shoes I wore my favourite black heels that I featured in the last outfit post http://lourdesgio24.blogspot.com.mt/2017/01/christmas-day-outfit.html. The blazer is from a shop in Rabat by the name of Main Street. For lips I used NYX in Madrid. I wore the same handbag from the previous outfit.

The third and final outfit is what I wore on Sunday which was also my last day. For this outfit I combined my favourite sweater and my favourite pair of jeans. The sweater is from Mango. It has a cute saying which says fly away and two origami birds right below the left shoulder. The jeans are from Terranova; I bought these jeans last year, so probably they don't have the exact same pair but last time I went there they had very similar. The scarf is from Calliope and the bag is from 1 to 5 (by JB stores). I wore the same shoes that I wore in the first outfit. For lips I used this beautiful coloured lipstick from Inglot in 442.

And lastly, I wanted to share with you some of the photos that I took of the hotel:

Interview with Denise De Gaetano

Hello my fellow readers,

A few days ago, I interviewed Denise De Gaetano, a data scientist, science communicator and entrepreneur by profession. She is also the founder of Comino Magazine.

What is data science?
Data science is an interdisciplinary field, which uses data to extract information. This information can then lead to a multitude of benefits in multiple sectors such as health and traffic flow.

When and how did you become interested in data science?
This is a very new science, possibly one of the newest sciences around. Given our size, it is an even newer science here in Malta and I only really understood what data science was around 10 years ago. Given that I always loved and found mathematics very easy to understand and moreover, I was very interested in different areas of science, this was a perfect combination to me. It allows me to utilize different areas of science and business acumen, all at once. I believe that this science is one which will continue growing exponentially. Providing so many different opportunities, both nationally and internationally and collaborations with different scientists, institutions and businesses, it is an area of science, which will soon be considered as a possible option, by many more students.

Apart from being a data scientist, you are also a science communicator. How do you see the future of data science and science communication in Malta?
There may not be too many data scientists here in Malta, but the knowledge this science brings to any business is so powerful, that most businesses will start analyzing this area in more depth. We can already find some companies, here in Malta, building their analytics departments. On the other hand, I believe that science communication has been in Malta for a number of years.

You also have an online lifestyle platform. Can you tell us about it?
Comino Magazine is a young, fresh, sophisticated platform, which attracts an international audience. It is a brand over a number of different online platforms covering an array of subject matters, latest news, reviews and articles.

Finally, what piece of advise do you give to other bloggers/people who would like to start blogging?
Do what you love. It may not be perfect the first time round, but, if it will help you grow as an individual, all the work and effort you put into it, will all be worthwhile.
